Description
Janne. She is a very curious little girl who likes to explore. She loves snow, Christmas and coziness, and when it’s time to decorate she is always on hand to help. When big snowflakes begin to fall she is out of the door in a flash, either on a sledge or on a sleigh, at the reigns of her beloved horses.
Hans Christian. He is lively, brave and a real daredevil. What he loves more than anything are the big snowdrifts left on the ground after a good snowstorm, so he can really get some speed up on his sledge; the snow swirls around his ears and all the small animals run and hide behind the trees and bushes.

The annual elves have been spreading Christmas spirit for 20 years!
Just think, the 20th anniversary of the annual elves. How time flies – although it tends to when you spend it in good company. I love the elves, and they make sure that I never get bored.
They tumble through my mind day and night, sometimes getting in the way of sleep, but that doesn’t matter. These little elves bring me so much joy and so many magical moments. They have been a part of my life almost since I was born; in fact, I think I may have elf blood running through my veins.
When I started selling elves from my first little store in 1986, I always made a new set of elves annually, and each year many of my loyal customers would ask, “What do the new elves look like this year?”
From here, the idea of calling them the annual elves was born, and it was fitting that I could call them this from the year 2000. There have been many different, adorable elves throughout the years, with which you could rightly assume that I’ve given myself a heavy workload at times, but I love it. It’s fantastic to be able to make use of your childlike, adventurous imagination, and there is nothing cozier than December, waiting for Christmas to arrive with all the little elves around us – that’s what I call ‘hygge’!

About the designer Etly Klarborg
Artist Etly Klarborg loved elfs and their significance in Danish folklore long before she started her company in 1986. She grew up with a vibrant imagination and created her first elf at just 4 years old, crafting it from mud while playing outside. The creatures helped connect her with her own mother, a storyteller whose personality shone bright.
It is the childlike quality of the elfs that have endured for all these years. When her oldest son, Martin, was young, he would play in his pajamas, his small belly popping out. So, too, then, did Martin the elf’s midsection.
